Screw Piling Contractors

Direct Construction Midlands Ltd offer screw piling services for the Coventry and Midlands area.

Screw piling is a method which uses circular hollow galvanised steel pile shafts with one or more steel helices attached to them

They can be installed quickly with minimum sound and vibration disturbance.

Screw piles which are also known as helical piles or screw anchors are fastened into the ground much like a screw is fastened into wood. This is not to be confused with other piling solutions which are driven into the ground.

Depending on the loads required, screw piles can be installed in a number of ways using powerful hydraulic motors and attachments.

If there is restricted access to site and the loads required permit it there are smaller hand held motors which can be used on domestic extensions.

Our aim is to provide the most professional, reliable and personal service!

The Advantages of Screw Piles

Unless the ground is solid rock, screw piles can be installed on uneven ground, and they do not require large amounts of digging to remove soil. This is especially good for soft or collapsing ground, which may not be suitable for concrete foundations.

There is also the added benefit of not having to wait around for any concrete to dry - load can be applied immediately after installation.

This is an effective and sustainable method of deep foundation support as the required loads can be achieved by putting less material into the ground and taking less out.

The piles cut through the ground along a constant angle rather than boring out a hole. The point of this is it gives savings not only on timescale but by reducing both the cost of moving soil and the total carbon footprint of the project.

When the screw pile has found its required depth it will remain there and can be topped up with concrete if the design calls for it. Also in some instances the screw piles can even be removed from the ground at a later date if necessary with less complications than other pile types.
